Position:  Project Coordinator, Art Larks!

Arts Health Antigonish (AHA!) invites applications for the position of Project Coordinator, Art Larks! for an 11-month period, beginning in the summer of 2023. This position is a contract position for about 12-15 hours/week, with probable variations in weekly requirements (ie there are likely to be more hours required up front in project set-up).

Arts Larks! is a free, virtual arts program for seniors, offering twice daily programs Monday to Friday, from September to May, 2024, building on AHA!’s pilots of the program over the past two winters. The goal of Art Larks! is to support the social inclusion of seniors (regardless of their mental or physical health) and to address seniors’ loneliness during the winter months.

Arts Health Antigonish (AHA!) is a collaboration of artists, health care workers and educators. Since 2013, AHA! has lived its mission of ‘fostering creative expression for community health’, creating about 35 arts-based programs over ten years, particularly for those in our community with less access to the arts, those in transition, isolated, ill, lonely, or vulnerable in other ways.

Major Responsibilities and Commitments:

  • Coordinate project set-up, assess and hire appropriate artists, map a schedule aiming for diversity of art forms, race, languages.
  • Coordinate program promotions and registration of seniors.
  • Project management: ensure access to programs; support participants with technology, supplies; support artists as needed.
  • Hours are flexible.
  • Ongoing evaluation of programming; regular reporting to AHA! and funder.

Requirements:

  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
  • Strong record of community engagement; demonstrated understanding of the health-related benefits of engagement with the arts
  • Project management experience
  • Experience with technology, particularly with Zoom platform; reliable internet services
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain accurate and timely, records and reflections
  • Able to work independently and with a team
  • Responsibility and accountability for actions and decisions
  • Criminal Record Check required prior to beginning employment
