Dear friends and fellow artists.
“Seniors for Climate – Day of Action, October 1st 2024” caught my attention, and I hope it will catch yours too, through conversation around “Later is too Late!”
An Invitation to you to come
What : I will host a pre-rally art workshop to make signs, banners, sock puppets, and a large puppet for the rally . This playshop is for all ages, especially grandchildren.
If you can, bring single socks for sock puppets and any plastic recyclable items, such as lids, bubblewrap, clam takeout containers, mesh bags, etc. that we can use.
When: Wednesday, September 25th, 5:30 to 8:30 pm.
Where: The Community Room of the Antigonish Library on Main Street,
WHY: It will be fun! and Time will fly by as we create together. (and creating will make us hungry, so iIf you are able to, bring finger food snacks to share.)
ALSO, we will take the time, at 7:00 pm. to meet Linda Johns and learn about her art work as it truly informs us of our interrelationship with all creation.
Linda will be donating to our library her Poem Painting, “How Wise are We?
My reason for writing to you. I know that as a senior citizen, as a grandmother, as a community artist, and as a settler developing my responsibility to making sure that there is clean water, air and soil for future generations, I think about non action, and the later impacts of not adding my voice and presence to this national movement. I know that to do something is to remember the power of united action. Spread the news of the rally in Antigonish on October 1st, to fellow seniors whom you meet in our community. If they have preschool grandchildren, bring them along.
There is a national website seniorsforclimate.org
And Jeff Parker has created a Facebook page Seniors for Climate-Antigonish. There is a poster with information to share at the bottom of this email, which you can forward to friends and family.
Sincerely,
Nancy Turniawan, Community Artist
