A Tapestry of Tales

Arts Health Antigonish presents A Tapestry of Tales. A radio show and podcast starring senior citizens in our community. Arts Health Antigonish or AHA! has facilitated storytelling projects with youth, seniors and immigrants, musicians in the schools, and writers and artists working with seniors in care. The sharing of stories, whether through music, theatre, poetry or the visual arts, is a powerful way of building self-esteem and connection with others, alleviating isolation and loneliness.

A Tapestry of Tales will change the way we understand seniors, to see them as people, people with stories, who have lived and are continuing to live, rich and full lives worth sharing. In knowing seniors’ stories, they become more visible; we see past any physical or cognitive disability, past gender, race and religion, past age, and feel a greater connection with them. The sharing of stories has the capacity to bridge divides in our community.

This fall, Laura Teasdale & Yannick Laplante will be on tour visiting seniors in our region. We’ll sit and talk and gather the stories seniors are itching to tell.  If you or a senior citizen you know would like to have a visit, call (514) 266-2240 or email thetease4@gmail.com
