Position: Project Coordinator

Location: Remote with onsite work at FireLoch as needed
Hours: Part time (self-managed) 12-15 hours / week on average
Pay: $400 / week
Start Date: September 1, 2025 – negotiable
Commitment: 1-year contract
Reports To: Director of Arts Health Antigonish (AHA!)

Arts Health Antigonish (AHA!) and FireLoch are seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and experienced Project Coordinator for a new shared commitment between these two organizations to building healthier, more resilient communities through the transformative power of the arts. We are together changing the way that community thinks about how the arts can strengthen well-being, foster connection, and support healing. Through this collaboration, AHA! and FireLoch are working side by side to inspire positive community health outcomes and sustainable social change.

The Project Coordinator will support the development, delivery, and evaluation of innovative and systems changing arts for health programs at the FireLoch Gathering Place and Retreat Centre, ensuring actions are in alignment with our shared mission. The Project Coordinator will work with the leadership from both FireLoch and AHA! to coordinate backend support for multiple engagements centering the arts in systems changing initiatives for sectors including healthcare, education and community development.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a vibrant nonprofit collaboration to help advance the growing field of arts and health in Nova Scotia.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Planning, Delivery, & Reporting

  • Support coordination of arts-health programs aligned with collaborative goals.
  • Support funding applications.
  • Create and monitor project plans, timelines, relationships, budgets and evaluation frameworks.
  • Coordinate with artists, healthcare professionals, community stakeholders, and other partners relevant to each program.
  • Ensure all program activities are inclusive, accessible, and culturally responsive.
  • Support arts-based evaluations to assess program impact on health and wellbeing.
  • Compile reports for funders, partners, and the AHA! – FireLoch collaboration.

Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, funders, artists and other key stakeholders.
  • Represent the AHA! – FireLoch collaboration at meetings, events and with community partners.
  • Contribute to advocacy and knowledge-sharing about arts and health. Champion the integration of arts and health across sectors.
  • Work with the collaboration to identify opportunities for sustainable funding and growth.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience managing community-based projects in the arts, healthcare, community, and / or nonprofit sectors.
  • Strong understanding of the intersection of arts and health.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively; able to manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and cultural responsiveness.
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada.
  • Must have reliable transportation to FireLoch.
  • A Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check are required prior to start date.

Skills That Would Be Considered An Asset:

  • Systems change mindset.
  • Background in the arts, health, community development or related field.
  • Experience with evaluation and reporting.
  • Familiarity with funding, grants management.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and mental health supports.
